Nitrogen Uptake, Use Efficiency, and Productivity of Nigella sativa L. in Response to Fertilization and Plant Density

Ioannis Roussis et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of fertilization and plant density on nitrogen uptake, utilization efficiency, and productivity of N. sativa under Mediterranean conditions. The results showed that low-density and inorganic fertilization treatment had the highest seed yield, nitrogen uptake, and nitrogen harvest index. Increasing plant density decreased seed yield and nitrogen utilization efficiency, while applying inorganic fertilizers increased crop yield, nitrogen uptake, and utilization efficiency.
