Relaxation Dynamics of Biomass-Derived Copolymers With Promising Gas-Barrier Properties

Alejandro Sanz et al.

Summary: This article presents an experimental study on the relaxation dynamics of random copolymers based on bio-friendly comonomers. The study shows that these copolymers have interesting gas barrier properties, with lower dynamic fragility compared to popular polyesters used in industry. The efficient chain packing of the amorphous phase in these copolymers contributes to their low permeability to gases.

Relaxation behaviour and free volume of bio-based Poly(trimethylene terephthalate)-block-poly(caprolactone) copolymers as revealed by Broadband Dielectric and Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopies

Izabela Irska et al.

Summary: Broadband Dielectric (BDS) and Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopies (PALS) were used to investigate the relaxation behavior of novel bio-based aliphatic-aromatic block copolymers based on poly (trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) and poly (caprolactone) (PCL). Copolymerization increases crystallization ability and dielectric relaxation in the copolymers is dominated by PTT, with free volume and beta relaxation dynamics related to PCL content.

Synthesis and characterization of biobased thermoplastic polyester elastomers containing Poly(butylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate)

Hailan Kang et al.

Summary: A series of sustainable and reprocessible thermoplastic polyester elastomers P(BF-PBSS) were synthesized and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance, revealing a microstructure with two domains. The mechanical properties of P(BF-PBSS) could be tailored by adjusting the content of soft segment PBSS. These materials have the potential to be applied in biomedical materials due to their renewable nature and good tensile properties.
