Golam Haider et al.

Summary: The recent study demonstrates the coherent oscillation of excitonic dipoles in van der Waals heterostructures composed of monolayer transition-metal dichalcogenides and few-layer hBN, achieved through strong suppression of phonon population at low temperatures. This results in robust phase synchronized ultra-narrow band superradiant emission even at extremely low pumping intensity.

Fluorination of graphene leads to susceptibility for nanopore formation by highly charged ion impact

S. Creutzburg et al.

Summary: The formation of nanopores by highly charged ions impacting freestanding fluorine-functionalized graphene has been demonstrated. The interaction of fluorographene with highly charged ions involves charge exchange and kinetic energy loss, resulting in a higher number of captured electrons and larger kinetic energy loss compared to pristine graphene. The efficiency of charge exchange is found to be related to the fluorine coverage, suggesting a competition between pore formation and fluorine desorption as distinct nanostructure formation processes.
