Fish scale-based biochar with defined pore size and ultrahigh specific surface area for highly efficient adsorption of ciprofloxacin

Shuai Dou et al.

Summary: The fish scale-based porous activated biochar with defined pore size (DPBC) fabricated in this study exhibited a high specific surface area and pore diameter suitable for the adsorption of CIP. The adsorption process was found to be spontaneous and endothermic, with a high saturated dynamic adsorption capacity of 880.3 mg g(-1) in fixed-bed experiments. Various interactions including hydrophobic effect, pi-pi interaction, cation exchange, and hydrogen bonding were involved in the CIP adsorption on the DPBC.

Fei Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, single-atom iron anchored nitrogen-rich g-C3N4 nanotubes were designed and synthesized as catalysts for eliminating organic pollutants. Eco-friendly peracetic acid was used as the oxidant for Fenton-like reactions. The constructed heterogenous system achieved enhanced degradation of various organic contaminants over a wide pH range, exhibiting ultrahigh and stable catalytic activity. The study provides opportunities for significantly improving catalytic efficiency by developing novel catalysts with multiple active units.

Xinquan Zhou et al.

Summary: The study found that incorporating unreducible metal oxides into CuO hybrid magnetic nano ferric oxide can alter the reaction pathway and increase the reaction rate in persulfate activation. In the CuM@Fe3O4/PMS system, O-1(2) dominates the nonradical oxidation process, indicating the importance of singlet oxygen in the system.

A novel CNTs-Fe3O4 synthetized via a ball-milling strategy as efficient fenton-like catalyst for degradation of sulfonamides

Yunbo Liu et al.

Summary: A novel composite (CNTs-Fe3O4) was synthesized and characterized for the removal of six sulfonamides through Fenton degradation. The study systematically investigated the degradation behaviors and molecular structures of the sulfonamides. The results showed that the as-fabricated CNTs-Fe3O4 had excellent Fenton catalytic activity and a quantitative relationship between the Mulliken charge of sulfonamides and their degradation rate constant was established.
