Interaction mechanism of Fe3+ with smithsonite surfaces and its response to flotation performance

Peixuan Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of Fe3+ on the surface properties and floatability of smithsonite. The results show that the addition of Fe3+ decreases the flotation recovery of smithsonite and reduces the number of active sites on the mineral surface, resulting in the generation of hydrophilic species. Additionally, Fe3+ hinders the adsorption of xanthate on the smithsonite surface.

Adsorption behavior and mechanism of copper ions in the sulfidization flotation of malachite

Han Wang et al.

Summary: Pretreatment with an appropriate concentration of copper ions can improve the recovery rate of malachite, while an excessive amount of copper ions reduces the hydrophobicity of the malachite surface. Copper ion pretreatment also promotes sulfidization reactions and the formation of a sulfidization layer on the malachite surface.

Degradation mechanism of surface hydrophobicity by ferrous ions in the sulfidization flotation system of smithsonite

Qicheng Feng et al.

Summary: Metal ions commonly found in flotation pulp can affect the surface properties of minerals. This study investigated the effect of Fe2+ on the flotation of smithsonite and clarified the interaction mechanism between Fe2+ and the smithsonite surface in the sulfidization flotation system. The results showed that Fe2+ significantly reduced the flotation recovery of smithsonite, and hindered the formation of active sulfide species on the smithsonite surface. Additionally, Fe2+ hindered the adsorption of the collector on smithsonite, resulting in poor floatability.

Wenjuan Zhao et al.

Summary: Copper-ammonium species were introduced to improve surface sulfidization and flotation performance, showing superior activation compared to individual copper ions. This improved reactivity between the mineral surface and sulfide and xanthate species. The research results provide a potential technology for efficient recovery of zinc oxide minerals through sulfidization xanthate flotation.

Miao Cao et al.

Summary: The study investigates the surface modification of columbite-tantalite by Pb2+ ions and its effect on flotation with BHA as collector. Results show that Pb2+ modification enhances BHA adsorption, increases hydrophobicity, and improves floatability. Introducing Pb2+ ions effectively activates the mineral surface, increasing its floatability.

Wengang Liu et al.

Summary: The study successfully separated magnesite and dolomite by using an ion-tolerance collector, which showed better collecting ability and selectivity under alkaline conditions and selectively inhibited approximately 15% recovery of dolomite by Ca2+. The mechanism analysis revealed that the collector had a high surface activity and complexed with Ca2+ by electrostatic interactions to prevent interference in the flotation process.
