Hollow-core anti-resonant fiber based light-induced thermoelastic spectroscopy for gas sensing

Yufei Ma et al.

Summary: In this paper, a hollow-core anti-resonant fiber (HC-ARF) based light-induced thermoelastic spectroscopy (LITES) sensor was developed for detecting gases such as acetylene and carbon monoxide. The sensor showed excellent linearity response and low minimum detection limits, which can be further improved by using a longer HC-ARF or stronger absorption lines.

Wavelength-modulation dispersion spectroscopy of NO with heterodyne phase-sensitive detection

Mengyuan Hu et al.

Summary: Heterodyne phase-sensitive dispersion spectroscopy (HPSDS) is an agile method for gas detection by measuring the phase of an amplitude modulation signal. However, previous HPSDS gas sensors have shown limited sensitivity. In this work, a new dispersion spectroscopic technique, called wavelength-modulation heterodyne phase-sensitive dispersion spectroscopy (WM-HPSDS), is proposed to improve the detection sensitivity. A proof-of-principle demonstration using a quantum cascade laser (QCL) achieves a noise-equivalent concentration of 40 ppb NO using WM-HPSDS, with a sensitivity improvement of 8.3 compared to conventional HPSDS.

Dual-comb photothermal spectroscopy

Qiang Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates dual-comb photothermal spectroscopy (DC-PTS), which combines the advantages of dual-comb spectroscopy and photothermal spectroscopy, for gas sensing with superfine resolution and high sensitivity. By passing dual combs and a probe laser through a gas-filled anti-resonant hollow-core fiber, the refractive index modulation is detected by an in-line interferometer. The proposed DC-PTS method offers opportunities for broadband gas sensing with small sample volume and compact configuration.
