Gas sensor towards n-butanol at low temperature detection: Hierarchical flower-like Ni-doped Co3O4 based on solvent-dependent synthesis

Pengfei Cheng et al.

Summary: In this study, hierarchical flower-like Ni-doped Co3O4 was successfully synthesized using a facile method, and the effect of ethanol/water ratio on samples was investigated. Gas sensors based on the prepared materials showed excellent performance, with the sensor using 5.3 mol% Ni-doped Co3O4 microflowers exhibiting the highest response towards n-butanol, as well as outstanding anti-humidity properties and long-term stability. The improved gas sensing properties were attributed to the unique hierarchical flower-like microstructure and optimized parameters resulting from the Ni doping.

Effect of Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) Database Selection on the Assessment of Gas Storage and Separation Potentials of MOFs

Hilal Daglar et al.

Summary: The development of computation-ready metal-organic framework databases has accelerated high-throughput computational screening of materials for gas storage and separation. Differences in structural features due to database selection significantly impact the calculated gas uptakes and ideal selectivities of materials at low pressure. The identification of top-performing materials for gas separation strongly depends on the choice of the database used in simulations.

The 1,2-propanediol-sensing properties of one-dimension Tb2O3-modified ZnO nanowires synthesized by water-glycerol binary thermal route

Wanyi Ling et al.

Summary: In this study, one-dimensional Tb2O3-modified ZnO nanowires were synthesized via a water-glycerol binary thermal route. Various characterization techniques confirmed the high crystallinity, pure phase, and specific properties of the Tb2O3-modified ZnO, such as sensitivity, response/recovery time, and detection limit. The formation of highly uniform heterojunctions further enhanced the sensor properties synergistically.
