Preparation and study of ammonia gas sensor based on ZnO/CuO heterojunction with high performance at room temperature

Cao Cheng et al.

Summary: An NH3 gas sensor based on ZnO/CuO heterojunctions was prepared using the hydrothermal method. The sensor exhibited excellent performance, including low detection limit, fast response/recovery time, high sensitivity, good selectivity, strong stability, and high humidity resistance at room temperature. The improved sensing performance is attributed to the presence of more oxygen free radicals and the strong adsorption energy of the ZnO/CuO heterojunctions. The strong built-in electric field of the heterojunctions enhances the polarity of NH3 molecules and induces a high response to NH3 molecules.
