A Deep Learning Method for the Impact Damage Segmentation of Curve-Shaped CFRP Specimens Inspected by Infrared Thermography

Ziang Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, artificial intelligence combined with infrared thermography was used to detect and segment impact damage on curved laminates previously exposed to severe thermal stress and ballistic impacts. The deep neural networks trained for both mid-wave and long-wave infrared images generated satisfactory results, with F1-scores of 92.74% and 87.39% respectively.
