Fuzzy Smith predictor-based active disturbance rejection controller for time-delay systems with application to drilling stick-slip vibration control

DeJun Ba et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the design of a drill bit stick-slip vibration and active disturbance rejection controller, considering the influence of an uncertain load at the bottom of a drill hole. The study adopts a model-independent active disturbance rejection control method to handle the complex and uncertain environment. Through simulation and semi-physical experiments, the designed Smith predictor-based active disturbance rejection controller demonstrates better control performance by effectively suppressing sudden changes in torque and speed during stick-slip vibration, ensuring the safe and smooth operation of equipment.

Turn-to-Turn Short Circuit Fault Localization in Transformer Winding via Image Processing and Deep Learning Method

Arash Moradzadeh et al.

Summary: This article presents a technique for interpreting frequency responses using image processing and a deep learning method called graph convolutional neural network (CNN). The proposed technique transfers frequency responses into 2-D images and applies CNN for precise fault detection and location in power transformer windings, providing an important step for automatic interpretation of frequency responses for online monitoring.

Analysis and tuning of reduced-order active disturbance rejection control

Caifen Fu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a reduced-order active disturbance rejection control (RADRC) method to reduce the phase lag introduced by extended state observer (ESO). The study shows that RADRC can serve as a general-purpose fixed structure controller and achieve similar disturbance-rejection performance as a full-order linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC). Simulation results demonstrate that any system controllable by LADRC can also be controlled by RADRC with similar disturbance-rejection performance.

On transitioning from PID to ADRC in thermal power plants

Zhenlong Wu et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the adoption of active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) in thermal processes as a viable alternative to proportional-integral-derivative (PID), especially in coal-fired power plants. The discussion includes the interpretation of this paradigm shift, fundamental issues associated with ADRC's applications, and examples of its implementation in various thermal processes. The paper also discusses future research opportunities brought by ADRC's entry as the baseline control technology in thermal processes.
