Investigation of interfacial structure and dynamic mechanical behavior of titanium alloy laminated composites

Yanxing Li et al.

Summary: Explosive welding was used to prepare TC4/TA1/Ti6321 titanium alloy laminated composites, and the interfacial characteristics and dynamic mechanical properties were investigated. The results showed a well-bonded interface, a high density of crystal defects near the interface, and specific hardness distribution and failure mode.

Study on influence of heat treatment on interfacial adhesion of CF/ PI composites

Xuekuan Li et al.

Summary: The interfacial adhesion and failure mechanism of carbon fiber reinforced polyimide (CF/PI) composites were investigated through micro-bond tests. High-temperature treatments showed that the interfacial shear strength (IFSS) initially increased and then decreased with increasing temperature, with composites formed by KH500 exhibiting higher performance retention. The IFSS results of composites formed by KH308 and KH500 after long-time treatments were significantly different, indicating the proper service temperature of CF/PI composites. Despite decomposition during the curing process, sizing agents still enhanced the active functionality on fiber surfaces, contributing to the interfacial adhesion of CF/PI composites at high temperature.

4th Generation Biomaterials Based on PVDF-Hydroxyapatite Composites Produced by Electrospinning: Processing and Characterization

Gabriel Grube dos Santos et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fabrication of piezoelectric scaffolds using the electrospinning process with poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) as a polymeric matrix and hydroxyapatite (HA) particles as a dispersed phase. The results demonstrate the successful production of membranes with micro- and nanofibers of the composite, good dispersion of HA particles in the polymer matrix, predominance of the beta-PVDF phase, and apatite growth on the membrane surface. The electrospun membranes also exhibit low cytotoxicity and hold great potential for biomedical applications in bone substitutions and wound healing.

Rapid apatite induction of polarized hydrophilic HA/PVDF bio-piezoelectric coating on titanium surface

Cong Wu et al.

Summary: Coatings with piezoelectric characteristics were prepared on the titanium alloy's surface to improve its biological properties, promoting bone growth and shortening bone repair time. The introduction of HA along with the high piezoelectric coefficient significantly enhanced the coating's mineralization, allowing for rapid apatite deposition and excellent biological activity for potential application in the rapid repair of bone defects.

Improving piezoelectric properties of PVDF fibers by compositing with BaTiO3-Ag particles prepared by sol-gel method and photochemical reaction

Soroush Dashtizad et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that an increase in the BaTiO3 content leads to higher piezoelectric output voltage in PVDF-BaTiO3-Ag composite fibers, primarily attributed to an increase in the beta phase content and the presence of silver as a conductive phase.

Investigation of the Characteristic of Solution-Processed Tetraphenyldibenzoperiflanthene (DBP) Film and Its Application on Organic Photovoltaic Cells

Yanqiong Zheng et al.

Summary: Solution-processed tetraphenyldibenzoperiflanthene (DBP) films were prepared with three popular solvents, and their absorption and photoluminescence spectra were investigated. It was found that the differences in photoluminescence between the DBP film and solution were due to molecular aggregation in the film. The DBP film prepared with chloroform exhibited higher power conversion efficiency and hole mobility compared to films prepared with chlorobenzene and dichlorobenzene.

Marzieh Rabiei et al.

Summary: This study focused on the physical and mechanical properties of doped silver-hydroxyapatite scaffold, prepared using mechanochemical and spark plasma sintering methods. A new approach of using a hair band as a mold for scaffold fabrication was introduced, and various analyses confirmed the bioactivity of the scaffold. Additionally, the use of polyvinyltrimethoxysilane as an additive was found to play a significant role in enhancing the scaffold's performance.
