Fast THz-TDS Reflection Imaging with ECOPS-Point-by-Point versus Line-by-Line Scanning

Summary: In this study, we built a high-speed TDS system with ECOPS and utilized a line-by-line scanning method. The results showed that the line-by-line scanning scheme significantly reduced the measurement time without deterioration in image quality.

Terahertz thermal curve analysis for label-free identification of pathogens

Summary: A label-free sensing method has been developed to identify hazardous pathogens based on their intrinsic properties. By performing a thermal curve analysis with terahertz metamaterials, a label-free identification tool for bacteria and yeasts has been created. The unique fingerprint obtained from the temperature-dependent resonance can provide information about the bacterial phases, such as growth and DNA denaturation. The method can also distinguish between gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria based on the temperature range of cell wall destruction.

Nondestructive Tomographic Imaging of Rust with Rapid THz Time-Domain Spectroscopy

Summary: This study developed a rapid nondestructive tool for testing rust spread in metal covered by paint layer using a THz time-domain spectroscopy system. Time-of-flight imaging and frequency-selective imaging were employed to monitor rust formation and spread, with higher contrast obtained in higher frequency components. The influence of two different chemical solutions on rust spread in steel plate was also studied, revealing the dominance of high-frequency components in the early stages and the transition to low-frequency components over time.
