Substrate availability affects the partitioning of C and N in glycine between plants and soil microorganisms

Lijie Yang et al.

Summary: Amino acids play a key role in soil organic nitrogen pool. Excessive exogenous carbon reduces intact glycine uptake by soil microorganisms, while plants are more competitive for glycine carbon and nitrogen. Carbon and nitrogen availability significantly influence wheat's uptake of C-13 and N-15, showing that plants can respond quickly to external C and N sources.

The utilization of tryptophan and glycine amino acids as safe alternatives to chemical fertilizers in apple orchards

Walid F. A. Mosa et al.

Summary: By foliar spraying glycine and tryptophan and their combinations, the growth rate, yield, and fruit quality of apple trees were significantly increased while fruit drop percentage was reduced. The combinations of 50 ppm glycine + 50 ppm tryptophan showed the best results in comparison with other treatments and control in both experimental seasons.

Recent Advances in Carbon and Nitrogen Metabolism in C3 Plants

Marouane Baslam et al.

Summary: C and N are essential elements in plants, and their metabolism is regulated by complex mechanisms to optimize plant growth and ecosystem maintenance. Recent advances have provided insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation and transport of C and N in plants, with special emphasis on starch metabolism and responses to environmental stress. Additionally, understanding the trade-off concept linking C and N status to plant responses to microorganisms has also been highlighted.

Effects of different fertilizer applications on nitrogen leaching losses and the response in soil microbial community structure

Leyun Wang et al.

Summary: The excessive use of nitrogen fertilizer leads to lower nitrogen efficiency and increased nitrogen loss to groundwater. Different forms of nitrogen were studied in leachates and soil profiles under various fertilizer treatments, with urea and manure resulting in higher losses of dissolved organic nitrogen and increased abundance of relevant microorganisms in deep soil layers.
