The Chromatin Modifier Protein FfJMHY Plays an Important Role in Regulating the Rate of Mycelial Growth and Stipe Elongation in Flammulina filiformis

Jian Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the function of a chromatin modifier gene containing the JmjC domain in stipe elongation was revealed using F. filiformis as a model agaric fungus. It was found that this gene positively regulates mycelial growth and controls the elongation speed and length of the stipe. Additionally, it regulates cell wall-related enzyme genes. This study provides new insight into the mechanism of rapid stipe elongation and is important for regulating the commodity quality of agaric fungi.

The molecular mechanism of stipe cell wall extension for mushroom stipe elongation growth

Cuicui Liu et al.

Summary: Stipe elongation growth is driven by lateral extension of stipe cells, requiring loosening of the cell wall to accommodate protoplast enlargement. Chitinases are key in stipe wall extension, while 3-glucanases play a role in wall remodeling. Fungal expansin-like proteins may enhance chitin hydrolysis and aid in stipe wall extension growth.
