The steric effect of bulky organic Lewis acid is found to be critical for the production of a specific COF, providing a new way to regulate the topology of COFs and their future design.

Highly Efficient Electrocatalytic Uranium Extraction from Seawater over an Amidoxime-Functionalized In-N-C Catalyst

This study developed an adsorption-electrocatalytic platform for extracting uranium from seawater using atomically dispersed indium anchored on hollow nitrogen-doped carbon capsules functionalized with flexible amidoxime moieties. The platform showed excellent uranyl capture properties and high selectivity for uranium extraction over vanadium in seawater. X-ray absorption spectroscopy and in situ Raman results provided detailed insights into the molecular mechanism of uranium extraction. This work contributes to the growing suite of technologies for harvesting valuable metals from the earth's oceans.

Photothermal enhancement of uranium capture from seawater by monolithic MOF-bonded carbon sponge
