Synthesis and properties of 1-[(3-fluoroadamantan-1-yl)methyl]-3-R-ureas and 1,1′-(alkan-1,n-diyl)bis{3-[(3-fluoroadamantan-1-yl)methyl]ureas} as promising soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitors

D. Danilov et al.

Summary: A two-step procedure for synthesizing (3-fluoroadamantan-1-yl)methyl isocyanate from (3-hydroxyadamantane)acetic acid was developed, involving fluorination with Ishikawa's reagent in the first step. The reaction of (3-fluoroadamantan-1-yl)methyl isocyanate with aliphatic diamines resulted in 1,3-disubstituted bis-diureas in yields of 60-97%. Introduction of fluorine atoms at the bridgehead positions of the adamantane unit led to a significant decrease in the melting points of the obtained ureas, ranging from approximately 70-144 degrees Celsius.

Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase in Aged Female Mice and Human Explanted Hearts Following Ischemic Injury

K. Lockhart Jamieson et al.

Summary: Myocardial infarction (MI) is a significant cause of death in aged individuals, with females experiencing increased risk during the peri-menopausal period. Research shows that sEH levels are elevated in ischemic LV specimens, impacting oxylipid metabolism and mitochondrial enzymatic function. Targeting sEH with inhibitors or genetic deletion improves survival and cardiac function in female mice following MI.

Synthesis and Properties of N,N′-Disubstituted Ureas and Their Isosteric Analogs Containing Polycyclic Fragments: XI. 1-[(Adamantan-1 yl)alkyl]-3-arylselenoureas

Ya. P. Kuznetsov et al.

Summary: A series of N,N'-disubstituted selenoureas with an adamantane fragment have been synthesized in yields ranging from 23-75%. Improvements have been made in the isolation and purification methods for aromatic isoselenocyanates. The refined chemical shift of the C=Se carbon nucleus in the C-13 NMR spectra of selenoureas indicates their potential as inhibitors of human soluble epoxide hydrolase, targeting both the epoxide hydrolase (sEH-H) and phosphatase domains (sEH-P).

Activity of Hydroxy Derivatives of Chalcones toward Superoxide Anion Radical

M. A. Polovinkina et al.

Summary: New hydroxy derivatives of chalcones have been found to exhibit antiradical activity towards superoxide anion radical (O-2(center dot-)) for the first time, with chalcone containing a 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol fragment showing higher activity under adrenaline autooxidation conditions in alkaline medium. Chalcone with two non-shielded OH groups showed the highest trapping activity in enzymatic systems and SOD-protective activity. The inhibiting activity of hydroxy derivatives of chalcones towards O-2(center dot-) is in line with in silico predictions and may decrease the probability of oxidative stress development.
