The Problem of Technoanthropic Dichotomy of the Project Social Robot: Ontosynthesis in Communication

Vladimir I. Ignatyev et al.

Summary: This study explores the communication between a person and a social robot as the formation of a new ontology by combining heterogeneous entities. The researcher uses the construct assemblage concept by M. Delanda and the ontosynthesis concept by V.S. Dudchenko, along with the designer-entity and technoanthropic dichotomy concepts introduced by the authors. The study concludes that a social robot becomes a special technical object through indirect communication with a person, activating the ontosynthesis process of two heterogeneous interaction models. The author emphasizes the mistake of developers who solely focus on improving the social robot as an object of influence from a person, without seeking to change its behavior model. The solution to the technoanthropic dichotomy of the human-social robot hybrid construct can only be achieved through the hybrid coupling of artificial and natural physicality of the participants, resulting in ontosynthesis.

Balancing and scheduling assembly lines with human-robot collaboration tasks

Amir Nourmohammadi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the assembly line balancing problem (ALBP) considering human-robot collaboration (HRC) and proposes a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model and a simulated annealing (SA) algorithm with customized solution representation and neighborhood search operators. The results show that allowing multiple humans and robots to collaborate in tasks significantly improves the productivity of the assembly line.

The personality of anthropomorphism: How the need for cognition and the need for closure define attitudes and anthropomorphic attributions toward robots

Spatola Nicolas et al.

Summary: This study measured participants' need for cognition and closure to predict attitudes toward robots and anthropomorphic attributions. Personality dimensions influenced attitudes and anthropomorphism, with these effects emphasized by human-like characteristics of robots. Importance of considering interaction between dispositional traits and robot design for anthropomorphism was highlighted.
