State-space optimal feedback control of optogenetically driven neural activity

M. F. Bolus et al.

Summary: The study achieved real-time feedback control of neuronal activity in the thalamocortical circuit of awake mice through optogenetic stimulation and a state-space optimal control framework. The model-based control scheme was effective for single-neuron feedback control in awake animals, and simulated multi-output feedback control showed better control of heterogeneous neuronal populations.
