Post synthesis of hierarchical SAPO-34 via citric acid etching: Mechanism of selective desilication

Tao Zheng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of acid concentration on the physicochemical properties of SAPO-34 catalysts and elucidates the mechanism of selective desilication using different concentrations of citric acid solutions. The results show that the concentration of citric acid determines the manufacturing of hierarchical pore structure and the extraction of specific silicon species. The resistance of Si-O-Si and Si-O-Al bonds near or in different silicon species is responsible for the selective desilication by citric acid. The distribution of silicon species and the selective desilication have a coupling effect on the generation of secondary pores and the strength and amount of acid sites. The acid-treated SAPO-34 exhibits improved performance in the methanol-to-olefins reaction.

A strategy combining the catalytic cracking of C6-C8 olefins and methanol to olefins (MTO) reaction through SAPO-34 pre-coking

Yanfen Zuo et al.

Summary: This study proposes the coupling conversion of C-6-C-8 olefins and methanol over SAPO-34 to enhance carbon resource utilization and light olefins production. The relationship between reactive coke and reaction pathway of methanol-to-olefin (MTO) is investigated through thermogravimetric analysis, dissolution-extraction experiment, and molecular dynamics simulations. Octene is found to be an effective coking source for promoting ethene production due to its remarkable product shape selectivity.

Li Han et al.

Summary: In this study, hierarchical porous SAPO-34 zeolite with excellent catalytic properties was successfully prepared using a one-step hydrothermal synthesis method by introducing water-soluble polyacrylamide (PAM) hydrogel into the conventional SAPO-34 synthesis system. Compared to conventional microporous SAPO-34, the hierarchically structured SAPO-34 exhibited significantly longer catalytic lifetime (740 min) and improved selectivity for light olefins up to 87.5% in the MTO reaction.
