A new pathological perspective on thrombotic microangiopathy

Yong-Jin Kim

Summary: Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) is a condition caused by microvascular injury, characterized by thrombosis, hemolytic anemia, and thrombocytopenia. Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a type of TMA that has diverse etiologies and clinical manifestations. Renal biopsy is an important diagnostic tool for TMA and can help identify TMA changes in other renal diseases.
