Kinetics of the hydrogen absorption and desorption processes of hydrogen storage alloys: A review

Qian Li et al.

Summary: This paper summarizes the kinetic models based on different kinetic measurement methods and rate-controlling steps for studying the kinetic mechanism of hydrogen storage alloys. The analysis procedures of kinetic experimental data and the effects of temperature, hydrogen pressure, and particle radius are explained in detail. The applications of the kinetic models for different hydrogen storage alloys are also introduced.

Thermodynamic prediction of thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity in Mg-Zn-La/Ce system

Tianci Xie et al.

Summary: Basic thermal and mechanical properties are crucial for structural magnesium alloys. Solute atoms and second phases can enhance mechanical properties but degrade heat dissipation performance. Experimental findings suggest that RE-Mg 12 phases have a lesser negative impact on thermal diffusivities compared to Tau 1 phases.

Rare earth-Mg-Ni-based alloys with superlattice structure for electrochemical hydrogen storage

Weiqing Jiang et al.

Summary: The rapid development of Ni-MH batteries requires advanced hydrogen storage alloys as negative electrodes, and rare earth-Mg-Ni-based hydrogen storage alloys with superlattice structures are attracting attention due to their high capacity and good electrochemical properties. Preparation techniques and composition optimization are highlighted as key factors in tuning the electrochemical performance of these alloys. New ideas and approaches are needed for developing high-performance Ni-MH batteries with higher energy density and longer cycle life.

Thermodynamics and kinetics of hydriding and dehydriding reactions in Mg-based hydrogen storage materials

Qian Li et al.

Summary: Magnesium-based materials show promise as hydrogen storage candidates due to their high capacity, environmental friendliness, and high Clarke number characteristics. However, limited thermodynamic and kinetic properties have posed challenges for their engineering applications. Recent progress has focused on improving these properties through alloying, composite materials, and nanocrystallization, leading to enhanced hydrogen storage efficiency.
