Impact of Adding Mean Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADCmean) Measurements to O-RADS MRI Scoring For Adnexal Lesions Characterization: A Combined O-RADS MRI/ADCmean Approach

Al Shaimaa Fathi Elshetry et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of adding mean apparent diffusion coefficient (ADCmean) measurements to the Ovarian Adnexal Imaging Reporting and Data System MRI (O-RADS MRI) scoring for adnexal lesion characterization. The results showed that combining O-RADS MRI scoring with ADCmean thresholds can reduce false positives, improve specificity, and maintain good sensitivity.

Added Value of Quantitative Analysis of Diffusion-Weighted Imaging in Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Nathalie A. Hottat et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the additional value of quantitative diffusion-weighted imaging in the diagnosis of adnexal masses classified by the O-RADS-MRI score. Integrating ADC-thresholds in lesions with an O-RADS-MRI score of 4 may help discriminate between low-to-intermediate and intermediate-to-high malignancy risk groups.

O-RADS MRI Risk Stratification System: Guide for Assessing Adnexal Lesions from the ACR O-RADS Committee

Elizabeth A. Sadowski et al.

Summary: MRI plays an important role in the evaluation of adnexal lesions as a secondary test or problem-solving modality. The O-RADS MRI Committee developed a risk stratification system to provide optimal patient management based on MRI features. The implementation of a codified reporting system will lead to improved interpretation agreement and standardized communication between radiologists and referring physicians.

Li Cui et al.

Summary: In this study, a meta-analysis was conducted to compare the diagnostic accuracy of the IOTA-ADNEX scoring system and the MR-ADNEX scoring system in differentiating benign from malignant ovarian masses. The results showed that the MR-ADNEX scoring system had higher specificity but slightly lower sensitivity compared to the IOTA-ADNEX scoring system.

How to improve O-RADS MRI score for rating adnexal masses with cystic component?

Victoria Assouline et al.

Summary: This study tested the performance of O-RADS MRI in characterizing adnexal masses with cystic components and proposed new MRI features to improve the ability of the O-RADS MRI score to stratify lesions according to their risk of malignancy. The results showed that cystic component analysis can improve the diagnostic performance of the O-RADS MRI score in adnexal cystic masses.

Magnetic resonance scoring system for assessment of adnexal masses: added value of diffusion-weighted imaging including apparent diffusion coefficient map

N. A. Hottat et al.

Summary: This study validated the ADNEX magnetic resonance (MR) scoring system for assessing adnexal masses and evaluated a new, modified system incorporating diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) mapping. Results indicated that DWI with ADC mapping could be integrated into the ADNEX MR scoring system to improve specificity and potentially optimize clinical management by avoiding unnecessary surgery.

Erica B. Stein et al.

Summary: Incidental adnexal masses are common in medical imaging, but many turn out to be benign, highlighting the importance of accurate non-invasive risk stratification to avoid unnecessary surgical resection. In recent years, various new assessment systems have emerged to assist in making more accurate judgments.

Management of adnexal mass: A comparison of five national guidelines

Lior Friedrich et al.

Summary: The study compared five different national guidelines for the management of adnexal masses, with a broad consensus on the role of transvaginal ultrasound in initial evaluation and radiological characteristics suggesting malignancy. Controversies exist regarding transabdominal ultrasound and the use of CA-125 as a screening tool. Risk prediction models are widely accepted.

Non-contrast MRI can accurately characterize adnexal masses: a retrospective study

Hilal Sahin et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the accuracy of non-contrast MRI in characterizing adnexal masses among 291 patients. It was found that a non-contrast MRI score of >= 4 was associated with malignancy with high sensitivity and specificity. The results suggest that non-contrast MRI studies can serve as a reasonable diagnostic alternative when intravenous contrast medium cannot be administered.

Preferred reporting items for journal and conference abstracts of systematic reviews and meta-analyses of diagnostic test accuracy studies (PRISMA-DTA for Abstracts): checklist, explanation, and elaboration

Jeremie F. Cohen et al.

Summary: Abstracts play a crucial role in conveying key information about research studies to readers. However, deficiencies in reporting have been found in journal and conference abstracts across various study designs, undermining the value of research to stakeholders. In response, the authors have developed a 12-item checklist, PRISMA-DTA for Abstracts, to improve the reporting quality of systematic reviews and meta-analyses in diagnostic test accuracy studies.
