Permanent Magnet Non-Linear Demagnetization Model for FEM Simulation Environment

W. Bekir et al.

Summary: This article emphasizes the importance of a nonlinear demagnetization model for permanent magnets (PMs) in a finite element method (FEM) simulation environment. A toolbox called PM-Demag has been developed to manage the PM history and update its characteristics based on temperature and working point. The implementation of this method in an FEM software and its application to a case study demonstrate the local magnetization loss in the PM due to temperature and demagnetizing field combinations.

A New Harmonic Current Injection Technique to Reduce Cogging Torque in Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Motors

M. Tetik Girgin et al.

Summary: A new two-stage harmonic current injection technique is proposed in this article to reduce the cogging torque and torque ripple components of permanent magnet synchronous machines at low speeds. The effectiveness of the developed algorithm is validated experimentally for two different axial flux PM motors, showing significant reduction in the cogging components, especially at very low speeds.

Enhanced Predictive Model Based Deadbeat Control for PMSM Drives Using Exponential Extended State Observer

Fengxiang Wang et al.

Summary: This article proposes a deadbeat control method based on an enhanced predictive model and an exponential extended state observer (EDB-EESO) to improve the robustness and dynamic tracking performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. By incorporating parameter mismatches and load perturbation as disturbances, extended state-space realizations are utilized for the PMSM speed and stator current mathematical models. The proposed exponential extended state observer (EESO) enhances robustness under disturbances, and the enhanced predictive model is designed to improve overshoot and settling time. Experimental results demonstrate the superior robustness and dynamic tracking performance of the EDB-EESO compared with conventional methods.

Robust Continuous Model Predictive Speed and Current Control for PMSM With Adaptive Integral Sliding-Mode Approach

Zheng Li et al.

Summary: Model predictive control is considered as a potential alternative method in electrical drives, with high reliable predictive model design being a research hotspot. A robust continuous model predictive speed and current control for PMSM with an adaptive integral sliding-mode approach is proposed to improve system dynamics. The adaptive integral sliding-mode predictive control addresses the chattering problem of sliding-mode control and shows excellent tracking performance in experimental validation.
