Contextual modulation of conditioned responses in humans: A review on virtual reality studies

Marta Andreatta et al.

Summary: Research has shown that contextual information strongly modulates conditioned responses triggered by stimuli, with virtual reality technology being a useful tool for overcoming methodological boundaries in translating animal findings to human studies. VR studies have revealed that spatial or temporal contextual information determines the expression of conditioned anxiety and conditioned fear.
