The findings emphasize the importance of addressing FCR and providing treatment to those in need.

Pain and Fear of Cancer Recurrence in Survivors of Childhood Cancer

Summary: This study examined the relationships between anxiety symptoms, pain intensity, pain catastrophizing, and fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) in childhood cancer survivors and their parents. The results showed that anxiety symptoms and pain catastrophizing were associated with FCR in both childhood cancer survivors and parents, while child pain intensity was not associated with parents' FCR. Pain catastrophizing played a unique role in predicting FCR.

These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.
