Characterization of affective lability across subgroups of psychosis spectrum disorders

Margrethe Collier Hoegh et al.

Summary: This study found significant differences in affective lability among different psychosis spectrum disorders, and the impact of different disorders on affective lability. Despite overlapping core symptoms, bipolar I disorder may be more similar to schizophrenia than to bipolar II disorder in terms of affective lability. Affective lability appears to be related to internalizing problems in these disorders and should be assessed regardless of diagnosis.

A Nationwide Cohort Study of Nonrandom Mating in Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder

Aja Neergaard Greve et al.

Summary: The study found that parents with partners with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder were more likely to have mental disorders and poorer social functioning. Additionally, parents with partners with schizophrenia performed worse on processing speed. The presence of nonrandom mating has implications for familial transmission and risk factors for children with parents affected by schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
