Systematic review of sleep and sleep disorders among prostate cancer patients and caregivers: a call to action for using validated sleep assessments during prostate cancer care

Rebecca Robbins et al.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the impact of prostate cancer on sleep health for patients and caregivers. A systematic literature search and qualitative synthesis revealed that patients with prostate cancer commonly experienced sleep issues, including insomnia and general sleep difficulties. Physical and psychological barriers to sleep were reported in this population. However, there is a lack of research on behavioral interventions to improve sleep for patients with prostate cancer and their caregivers. The diversity in research methods and measurement tools also hinders sleep comparison across different stages of prostate cancer treatment.
