The study of candidate genes in the improvement of egg production in ducks - a review

Semiu Folaniyi Bello et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the expression analysis and association studies of candidate genes for egg production in ducks at the transcriptome and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) levels. Various methods such as transcriptome analysis, Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) mapping, and Genome Wide Association Study (GWAS) have been used to identify potential candidate genes for egg production in ducks. These studies have significant implications for improving egg production to meet the increasing world population.

Hypothalamic and ovarian transcriptome profiling reveals potential candidate genes in low and high egg production of white Muscovy ducks (Cairina moschata)

Semiu Folaniyi Bello et al.

Summary: The study revealed that high-egg producing ducks had significantly more eggs at 300 days and 59 weeks of age compared to low-egg producers. RNA-Seq analysis identified numerous differentially expressed genes in the hypothalamus and ovary, and 10 potential candidate genes for egg production were identified. Protein-protein interaction analysis showed relationships between these candidate genes.
