Relationship between Latent Toxoplasmosis and Depression in Clients of a Center for Assisted Reproduction

Jana Hlavacova et al.

Summary: The study revealed opposite effects of latent Toxoplasma infection on depression in men and women. Specifically, women with Toxoplasma had higher depression scores compared to Toxoplasma-negative women, while the reverse was true for men. The results may be attributed to gender differences in reactions to chronic stress associated with lifelong infection.
