Phosphogypsum polymer composites offer a solution to environmental pollution caused by phosphogypsum stockpiling and improve phosphogypsum utilization. The composites demonstrated good compatibility between phosphogypsum and polymer, and exhibited improved mechanical and thermal properties. They can be used as high-quality raw materials for building drainage pipes.
Phosphogypsum polymer composite can not only solve the environmental pollution caused by phosphogypsum stockpiling, but also improve the utilization of phosphogypsum. A series of PG/polymer composites were pre-pared using polymer as matrix, and PG as filler by melt blending of PG and polymer. The mechanical properties, thermal properties and microstructure of the composites were determined. The results showed that the PG has good compatibility with polymer, and ultra-dispersed is achieved under the condition of high dosage, The temperature of 5% mass loss of composite material was 350 ?.Tensile properties of composite material was improved by 31%whenthe composite was PE/PG-0-20, and oxygen index of composite material was improved by 2.5% when the composite was PE/PG-0-30. The MFR of PG polymer composites were 10-40 g/10min, the VST of PE/PG and PP/PG composites were about 90 ? and 150 ? respectively, it shows that the composites have good machinability. PG/polymer composite materials provide high quality raw materials for building drainage pipes.
