Polymer composites filled with core-shell structured nanofillers: effects of shell thickness on dielectric and thermal properties of composites

Dan Cao et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of core-shell structure and shell thickness on the thermal and dielectric properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) filled with silicon dioxide-coated beta-silicon carbide whisker (beta-SiCw@SiO2) were investigated. The formation of an insulating SiO2 layer greatly reduced the dielectric loss and suppressed the dielectric constant of the composites. Increasing the shell thickness further reduced the dielectric loss while having little effect on the dielectric constant. The improved filler-polymer interfacial compatibility and enhanced thermal conductivity of the composites were attributed to the SiO2 shell.

Effects of Peroxide Initiator on the Structure and Properties of Ultralow Loss Thermosetting Polyphenylene Oxide-Based Composite

Xueyi Yu et al.

Summary: The effects of peroxide initiator concentration on the structure and dielectric properties of a low loss PPO/TAIC composite system were studied. The results show that the increase in crosslinking leads to an increase in glass transition temperature and storage modulus, while the relationship between initiator concentration and dielectric loss is complex.

Insights into concomitant enhancements of dielectric properties and thermal conductivity of PVDF composites filled with core@double-shell structured Zn@ZnO@PS particles

Tian Yao et al.

Summary: By synthesizing core-shell structured Zn@ZnO@PS particles and compositing them with PVDF, morphology-controllable composites with high ε', low loss, and high TC were successfully achieved. The second organic PS shell enhanced the E-b and TC of the composites, while inhibiting loss and conductivity.

Deterioration of microwave dielectric properties of low-loss thermosetting polyphenylene oxide/hydrocarbon resin induced by short-term thermo-oxidative aging

Zeming Fang et al.

Summary: The impact of short-term thermal aging on the microwave dielectric property of thermosetting polyphenylene oxide/hydrocarbon resin was investigated in this study. The accumulation of polar groups was found to have a linear relationship with the change in microwave dielectric loss factor. The effect of aging on moisture absorption and the influence of thickness on the aging rate were also examined.

Negative thermal expansion in framework structure materials

Naike Shi et al.

Summary: Negative thermal expansion (NTE) is a counterintuitive phenomenon where unit cell volume of materials contracts upon heating. Framework structure materials, with flexible bridging units and large voids, facilitate transverse atomic vibrations leading to NTE. The magnitude of NTE is influenced by framework size and metal atom size, and can be controlled through chemical substitution, local structure distortion, and guest molecular or ion intercalation.

Interface design and dielectric response behavior of SiO2/PB composites with low dielectric constant and ultra-low dielectric loss

Xuan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study constructed novel silicon dioxide/polybutadiene (SiO2/PB) composites with different SiO2 morphologies and surface function groups, showing extremely low dielectric constant and dielectric loss. The crosslinking reaction between surface surficial vinyl groups of the SiO2 and PB macromolecules tremendously suppressed the interfacial polarization of the composites, leading to improved material performance.

Investigation on structure and properties of nitride-tin-boron-fluorophosphate glass for low-temperature sealing

Dongwei Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a glass composition with P2O5-53SnF(2)-2B(2)O(3) was prepared and characterized under a nitrogen atmosphere. The presence of new P-N and P = N bonds in the glass network was confirmed, and the transition temperature and weight loss of the glass were found to be influenced by the NH4H2PO4 content. This work demonstrates the potential of nitride tin-boron-fluorophosphate glass as a low-temperature sealing material with satisfactory properties.
