The postpolymerization modification of acrylic acid copolymers is demonstrated in this study. A library of functional acrylate polymers was produced by direct addition of polymeric carboxylic acid to allene sulfonamides. Sterically congested methacrylic acid copolymers and acrylic acid copolymers were found to participate in the postpolymerization modification process with good conversions.
The postpolymerization modification of acrylic acid copolymers is presented herein. The direct additions of polymeric carboxylic acid to allene sulfonamides produced a library of functional acrylate polymers. Sterically congested methacrylic acid copolymers and acrylic acid copolymers participate in this PPM process, with good conversions observed.
