In-Depth Study of the Electronic Properties of NIR-Emissive κ3N Terpyridine Rhenium(I) Dicarbonyl Complexes

Summary: The study investigates the structure-properties relationship in a series of carbonyl rhenium(I) complexes based on substituted terpyridine ligands. It is found that different coordination modes of the ligands lead to changes in absorption spectra and oxidation potentials, as well as control emission wavelength in the near-infrared region.

Summary: A series of ligands have been synthesized based upon a polysubstituted 2-phenylquinoxaline core structure, with different combinations of fluorine and methyl substituents. These ligands were investigated as cyclometalating agents for Ir(III) and displayed tunable luminescence properties with MLCT contributions to the lowest energy absorption.
