Digital pathology: accurate technique for quantitative assessment of histological features in metabolic-associated fatty liver disease

David Marti-Aguado et al.

Summary: Histological evaluation of MAFLD biopsies is subjective and with interobserver variability. This study found that digital pathology can provide an automated, precise, and objective assessment of histological features such as fibrosis, steatosis, and iron in MAFLD. The digital analysis measurements showed good concordance with pathologists' scores, except for inflammation assessment.

Quantitative T2 mapping of rats with chronic hepatitis

Xiaofeng Wang et al.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the diagnostic value of T2 mapping in an experimental rat model of chronic liver disease, finding a significant association between T2 values and hepatic fibrosis stages. T2 values increased with progressive fibrosis and accurately reflected fibrosis stages.

The feasibility of T2 mapping in the assessment of hepatic steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: a preliminary study

I. S. Idilman et al.

Summary: T2 mapping can accurately quantify liver steatosis in patients with NAFLD, with close correlations between T2 values and histology-determined steatosis. Patients with definite NASH show higher T2 values, while an inverse correlation is observed between T2 values and liver fibrosis stage. T2 mapping may serve as a valuable clinical tool for disease assessment and prognostication in NAFLD.
