The impact of surgical site infection on hospitalisation, treatment costs, and health-related quality of life after vascular surgery

Joshua Phillip Totty et al.

Summary: Surgical site infections (SSI) significantly contribute to healthcare costs and impact patient recovery and quality of life. Findings from the study suggest that SSI is associated with increased hospital stay and costs, as well as decreased patient utility. Strategies to reduce SSI risk for high-risk vascular patients should be explored.
