A novel designed 3D multi-microhole plasma jet device driven by nanosecond pulse at atmospheric pressure

Zhijie Liu et al.

Summary: This study develops a novel three-dimensional multi-microhole helium plasma jet device and investigates the discharge characteristics and formation mechanisms of the 3D plasma jets. The results show that the 3D plasma jets have a hexagonal-like structure and high yield of reactive species. The direct treatment of water using this device can produce plasma activated water with higher concentrations of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species. This technique has promising applications for water activation.

Alkaline plasma-activated water (PAW) as an innovative therapeutic avenue for cancer treatment

Bolun Pang et al.

Summary: Plasma-activated water (PAW) prepared by air surface plasma is a promising therapeutic option for cancer treatment. Alkaline PAW, with higher concentrations of RONS and extended half-life compared to acidified PAW, exhibits potent anticancer effects in vitro and in vivo.

Surface processes involving nitrogen molecules and atoms on silica surface at low temperature: the role of energy exchanges

Maria Rutigliano et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamics of nitrogen atoms and molecules impacting a silica surface by adopting a semiclassical scattering method. The study emphasizes the crucial control exercised by the weakly bound precursor state on the stereo-dynamics of all basic elementary processes occurring at the gas-surface interphase. Molecular dynamics simulations highlight the role of vibrationally excited molecules in plasma dynamics, where N-2 molecules conserve the initial vibration state while being inelastically scattered, rotationally excited, and translationally colder. Moreover, N-2 molecules nascent from atomic recombination on the surface have a fair probability of forming at very high vibrational levels, with a significant portion of reaction exothermicity transferred to translational energy. Consequently, the surface induces a strong non-equilibrium condition, directly influencing the dynamics of processes occurring in the plasma bulk.

The Antitumor Effects of Plasma-Activated Saline on Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer Cells In Vitro and In Vivo Demonstrate Its Feasibility as a Potential Therapeutic Approach

Hao Zhang et al.

Summary: Bladder cancer is the most common urinary system carcinoma, with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) being a fatal clinical problem for most patients. Plasma-activated saline (PAS) shows potential as a therapeutic approach for MIBC, inducing cancer cells' apoptosis by activating the ROS-mediated Fas/CD95 pathway.
