Thermal Imaging for Plant Stress Detection and Phenotyping

Monica Pineda et al.

Summary: In recent years, significant efforts have been made to develop new methods for optimizing stress detection in crop fields, with plant phenotyping based on imaging techniques becoming an essential tool in agriculture. Thermal imaging, particularly leaf temperature, is a valuable indicator of plant physiological status responsive to both biotic and abiotic stressors. When combined with other imaging sensors and data-mining techniques, thermography plays a crucial role in achieving more automated, precise, and sustainable agriculture.

Genetic mapping of the early responses to salt stress in Arabidopsis thaliana

Mariam Awlia et al.

Summary: Plant growth is decreased under salt stress before significant ion accumulation in the shoot, with particular emphasis on quantum yield in the early phase and maximum quantum yield in the later stage. Genome-wide association study identified specific loci associated with salt stress response, including an unknown protein kinase affecting photosynthetic efficiency and growth maintenance. High-throughput phenotyping, multivariate analyses, and GWAS were integrated to uncover details of temporal stress responses and genetic components of salt tolerance.
