Fungicide resistance frequencies of Botrytis cinerea greenhouse isolates and molecular detection of a novel SDHI resistance mutation

Anastasios A. Malandrakis et al.

Summary: The sensitivity of B. cinerea to commonly used fungicides, particularly the newer QoIs and SDHIs, was assessed in Crete. High frequencies of double resistance to SDHIs and QoIs were found, indicating the need for appropriate anti-resistance strategies.

Biological and molecular characterizations of fluxapyroxad-resistant isolates of Botrytis cinerea

Kai Liu et al.

Summary: Gray mold caused by Botrytis cinerea has led to significant losses in crops, and the fungicide fluxapyroxad has been used for control. However, this study identified six fluxapyroxad-resistant isolates of B. cinerea, which exhibited various defects in growth, reproduction, stress tolerance, and virulence. The resistance was associated with specific mutations in succinate dehydrogenase subunit-coding genes. The isolates also showed resistance to another fungicide, indicating the need for monitoring and management of fluxapyroxad resistance in B. cinerea.

Difenoconazole Resistance Shift in Botrytis cinerea From Tomato in China Associated With Inducible Expression of CYP51

Can Zhang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that Botrytis cinerea exhibited resistance to difenoconazole, with a slight increase in resistance levels between 2011 and 2016. Positive cross-resistance was only observed between difenoconazole and two DMIs, and isolates gradually shifted from single to multiple fungicide resistance over time.

Soybean anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum species: Current status and future prospects

Thais R. Boufleur et al.

Summary: Soybean is a crucially important cultivated plant but is often threatened by anthracnose, a disease caused by various lineages of the Colletotrichum fungus. Accurate identification of the causal agent is crucial for disease control and prevention. Research on the taxonomy, symptomatology, and management of soybean anthracnose is essential for future strategies in disease prevention.

Molecular and biochemical characterization of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides isolates resistant to azoxystrobin from grape in China

Lingling Wei et al.

Summary: This study investigated the sensitivity of 64 isolates from commercial vineyards in Jiangsu Province, China to azoxystrobin and found that 62 isolates were resistant. QoI-resistant isolates showed lower biological fitness in terms of mycelial growth and conidiation compared to sensitive isolates. Nucleotide sequence alignment revealed two point mutations (F129L and G143A) involved in QoI resistance.
