Quorum Sensing (QS) is a communication system among microorganisms that regulates important functions such as virulence factor production, sporulation, conjugation, infections and invasions, colonization, biofilm formation, and antibiotic resistance. Quorum Quenching (QQ) is a process that reduces virulence factors and inhibits quorum-sensing molecules. Modulating quorum quenching enzymes and quorum sensing molecules can determine the Biocontrol potential of Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) strain, making it a sustainable agronomic approach to combat disease-causing agents and promote crop recovery.
Quorum Sensing (QS) is a type of cell-to-cell microbial communication system induced by certain molecules known as auto-inducers which are required for important regulatory functions like the production of virulence factors, sporulation, conjugation, infections and invasions, colonization, biofilm formation, and antibiotic resistance within bacterial populations. On the other hand, Quorum Quenching (QQ) is a process that causes the alleviation of virulence factors and inhibition of quorum-sensing molecules. The survival of plant growth -promoting rhizobacteria in presence of continuously invading pathogens creates a need for strategies that could help them activate their defense mechanisms and be at par with the pathogens. The modulation of quorum quenching enzymes and quorum sensing molecules can thus be useful in determining the Biocontrol potential of Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) strain and these processes could further be used as sustainable agronomic approaches to damper the disease-causing agents and promote crop recovery.
