Coherent and incoherent deeply virtual Compton scattering in electron-ion collisions at the EIC and LHeC

Victor P. Goncalves et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the deeply virtual Compton scattering process in electron-ion collisions. The coherent and incoherent DVCS cross sections and differential distributions are estimated, taking into account possible nucleon configurations and nonlinear corrections to QCD dynamics. The impact of nonlinear effects is also evaluated. The results suggest that future experimental analysis of these processes can provide insights into the description of high-energy QCD dynamics.

Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering Cross Section at High Bjorken xB

F. Georges et al.

Summary: We present high-precision measurements of the deep virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) cross section at high values of the Bjorken variable x(B). This measurement provides valuable information about the generalized parton distributions of the nucleon and allows for a three-dimensional description of its internal constituents. Our experimental extraction of all four helicity-conserving Compton form factors (CFFs) for the nucleon, as a function of x(B), demonstrates sensitivity to poorly known CFFs and showcases the high accuracy of our data.

Science Requirements and Detector Concepts for the Electron-Ion Collider

R. Abdul Khalek et al.

Summary: This report describes the physics case, detector requirements, and evolving detector concepts for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) experimental program. The EIC will be a new facility in the United States with the capability to collide high-energy electron beams with high-energy proton and ion beams, providing access to regions dominated by gluons. The use of polarized beams in the EIC will allow for unprecedented access to the spatial and spin structure of particles. The report aims to advance the physics program and develop detector concepts that meet the requirements for the EIC.

Soft-photon radiation in high-energy proton-proton collisions within the tensor-Pomeron approach: Bremsstrahlung

Piotr Lebiedowicz et al.

Summary: We discuss diffractive processes in proton-proton collisions, both with and without photon radiation, and compare our results with experimental data. The inclusion of secondary reggeons is necessary to accurately describe the low-energy data. We also investigate the photon bremsstrahlung in high-energy proton-proton collisions using the tensor-Pomeron model. These findings are significant for the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the LHC.

High-energy ππ scattering without and with photon radiation

Piotr Lebiedowicz et al.

Summary: In this paper, we discuss the processes pi pi - pi pi and pi pi - pi pi gamma from the perspective of quantum field theory (QFT). We study the theorem proposed by F.E. Low in the soft-photon limit and confirm his result for the 1/omega term. However, we disagree on the omega=0 term and investigate the discrepancy. Additionally, we calculate the amplitudes for these reactions using the tensor-Pomeron model and identify possible sources of anomalous soft photons. We introduce three soft-photon approximations (SPAs) and compare their results with those from the full model. The kinematic regions where the SPAs provide accurate representations of the full amplitude are determined. Finally, we discuss the fundamental information that can be obtained from high-energy exclusive hadronic reactions with and without soft photon radiation.

Beam charge asymmetries for deeply virtual Compton scattering off the proton

V Burkert et al.

Summary: The study discusses the unpolarized and polarized Beam Charge Asymmetries (BCAs) of the (e) over right arrow (+/-) p -> e(+/-) p gamma process off unpolarized hydrogen, using polarized positron and electron beams with the CLAS12 spectrometer at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. The experimental results provide insights into the azimuthal and t-dependences of the BCAs, allowing direct access to the real part of the Compton Form Factor (CFF) H. Additionally, the impact of positron beam data on the determination of CFFs is explored, showing a significant improvement in the determination of Re[H].
