Topological Hall effect arising from the mesoscopic and microscopic non-coplanar magnetic structure in MnBi

Yangkun He et al.

Summary: The study examines the Hall effect in MnBi samples and reveals that the topological Hall effect (THE) is induced by both the non-coplanar spin structure in the lattice and the topologically non-trivial skyrmion bubbles. The dominant mechanism for THE depends on the sample size, indicating a size-dependent magnetic phase diagram in MnBi. This study provides new insights into the relationship between mesoscopic and microscopic magnetic structures.

Fourfold Anisotropic Magnetoresistance of L10 FePt Due to Relaxation Time Anisotropy

Y. Dai et al.

Summary: Experimental measurements show that the angular dependence of the anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) in L1(0) ordered FePt epitaxial films is a superposition of twofold and fourfold symmetries. First-principles calculations reveal that the fourfold AMR arises from the relaxation time anisotropy due to the variation of the density of states near the Fermi energy under rotation of the magnetization.

Stimulated Nucleation of Skyrmions in a Centrosymmetric Magnet

Binbin Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamics of skyrmion nucleation and manipulation using Fe3Sn2 and Lorentz transmission electron microscopy. The results reveal that the rotatable anisotropy and thickness dependence are critical factors for skyrmion formation in response to external in-plane fields. It is also shown that the helicity of skyrmions can be controlled through this dynamic process.

Current-Controlled Topological Magnetic Transformations in a Nanostructured Kagome Magnet

Wensen Wei et al.

Summary: The ability to switch the topological magnetic charge Q in a controlled way by electrical methods allows for flexible manipulation of electromagnetic behavior in future spintronic devices. The study reports room-temperature current-controlled topological magnetic transformations in a kagome crystal Fe3Sn2, showing reproducible and reversible skyrmion-bubble and skyrmion-stripe transformations achieved by tuning the density of nanosecond pulsed current of the order of approximately 10(10) A m(-2). Numerical simulations suggest that spin-transfer torque combined with Joule thermal heating effects determine the current-induced topological magnetic transformations.

Observation of Shubnikov-de Haas Oscillations, Planar Hall Effect, and Anisotropic Magnetoresistance at the Conducting Interface of EuO-KTaO3

Nand Kumar et al.

Summary: The study reveals the presence of the Rashba effect in the EuO-KTaO3 system, indicating the formation of Rashba spin-split bands with two Fermi surfaces and a Berry's phase, along with strong spin-orbit coupling. Additionally, the observation of the two-fold planar Hall effect and anisotropic magnetoresistance suggests a possible band diagram near the Fermi surface.
