Effects of Exercise on Extracellular Vesicles in Patients with Metabolic Dystunction: a Systematic Review

Tong Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of exercise on extracellular vesicles (EVs) in patients with metabolic dysfunction. The results showed that long-term exercise decreased the concentrations of platelet-derived extracellular vesicles (PEVs) and endothelial cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EEVs), especially CD62E(+) EEVs and CD105(+) EEVs. Additionally, exercise improved the concentrations of clinical evaluation indicators of metabolic diseases, and these changes correlated positively with the changes of EEVs and PEVs. Furthermore, the concentrations of skeletal muscle-derived extracellular vesicles (SkEVs) increased after a single bout of exercise. These findings suggest that long-term exercise may improve endothelial function and hypercoagulability in patients with metabolic dysfunction, and the changes in EV concentrations can be used to assess the effects of exercise on these patients.

A collaborative approach to adopting/adapting guidelines. The Australian 24-hour movement guidelines for children (5-12 years) and young people (13-17 years): An integration of physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep

Anthony D. Okely et al.

Summary: This paper describes the development of the updated Australian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Children and Young People, which integrates physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep. The study adopted the GRADE-ADOLOPMENT approach and used the Canadian Guidelines as a reference. The guidelines provide evidence-informed recommendations for a healthy day (24-hours) for children and young people.

Exercise, healthy ageing, and the potential role of small extracellular vesicles

Luke C. McIlvenna et al.

Summary: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) act as intercellular messengers that can affect aging and age-related diseases. Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs), depending on their molecular cargo and cellular origin, can either accelerate or slow down these processes. Mass spectrometry-based proteomics has allowed for the characterization of the proteome of sEVs, which is crucial in developing sEV-based therapeutics and identifying biomarkers. Additionally, plasma sEVs released during exercise may influence aging and senescence by delivering cargo proteins with antioxidant or senescence inhibitory functions.

Summary: The Wisconsin Upper Respiratory Symptom Survey for Kids (WURSS-K) is a patient-oriented questionnaire developed to evaluate the severity of the common cold in children aged 10 years. The Polish version of WURSS Kids showed excellent reliability and internal consistency, making it a reliable and valid tool for assessing symptoms and quality of life in pediatric patients with the common cold.

Risk factors for recurrent respiratory tract infection in preschool-aged children

Bo Zhou et al.

Summary: This study identified five potential risk factors for recurrent respiratory tract infection among Chinese preschool-aged children, with asthma playing a leading role. Factors such as allergy, initial use of antibiotics, and breastfeeding may have a dose-dependent effect on susceptibility to recurrent respiratory tract infections.
