Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium Guideline for the Use of Aminoglycosides Based on MT-RNR1 Genotype

John Henry McDermott et al.

Summary: The use of aminoglycosides is associated with the risk of hearing loss, particularly in individuals with MT-RNR1 gene variants. It is advisable to avoid using aminoglycosides in individuals with MT-RNR1 variants associated with an increased risk of aminoglycoside-induced hearing loss.

Measurement of gene amplifications related to drug resistance in Plasmodium falciparum using droplet digital PCR

Suttipat Srisutham et al.

Summary: The developed ddPCR assays are simple, accurate, precise, and cost-effective tools for detecting CNVs in pfmdr1, pfplasmepsin2, and pfgch1 genes of P. falciparum. The multiplex ddPCR assay is found to be the optimal method for accurate detection of gene copy numbers without the need for calibration standards, while reducing costs and time required. The ddPCR assay is a valuable additional tool for monitoring anti-malarial drug resistance.
