Geometry-aware manipulability learning, tracking, and transfer

Noemie Jaquier et al.

Summary: This article introduces a novel manipulability transfer framework that allows robots to learn and reproduce manipulability ellipsoids from expert demonstrations, improving their performance in manipulation tasks. By considering the fact that manipulability ellipsoids lie on the manifold of symmetric positive-definite matrices and integrating a geometry-aware tracking controller, robots are able to follow the desired profile of manipulability ellipsoids effectively. Extensive evaluations in simulation and real experiments validate the feasibility of this approach with redundant manipulators, robotic hands, and humanoid agents.

Probabilistic learning vector quantization on manifold of symmetric positive definite matrices

Fengzhen Tang et al.

Summary: This paper develops a new classification method for manifold-valued data in the framework of probabilistic learning vector quantization. By generalizing the algorithm to symmetric positive definite matrices equipped with Riemannian natural metric, the proposed method demonstrates superior performance on synthetic data, image data, and motor imagery EEG data. Through utilizing Riemannian distance and gradient descent, the probabilistic learning Riemannian space quantization algorithm is derived.

A prototype-based SPD matrix network for domain adaptation EEG emotion recognition

Yixin Wang et al.

Summary: Emotion is crucial in human daily life, with EEG signals widely used in emotion recognition. However, training a generic emotion recognition model across different subjects is challenging due to individual variability. To address this, a domain adaptation SPD matrix network was proposed to capture shared emotional representations between subjects.

Complex common spatial patterns on time-frequency decomposed EEG for brain-computer interface

Vasilisa Mishuhina et al.

Summary: The novel approach of TFCSP enhances the robustness and accuracy of EEG signal classification, outperforming state-of-the-art methods. Adopting subject reaction time paradigm is useful to enhance classification performance, and using complex CSP in the frequency domain is significantly effective compared to commonly used bandpass filters in the time domain.
