B7-H4 reduction induced by Toxoplasma gondii infection results in dysfunction of decidual dendritic cells by regulating the JAK2/STAT3 pathway

Xinyue Sun et al.

Summary: This study found that the expression of B7-H4 in decidual DCs (dDCs) is significantly decreased by Toxoplasma gondii infection, leading to abnormal pregnancy outcomes. B7-H4 knockout pregnant mice infected with T. gondii showed more severe abnormal pregnancy outcomes compared to their counterparts. Furthermore, the infection of B7-H4 knockout dDCs affected the expression of other molecules and cytokines, and the JAK2/STAT3 pathway was involved in the regulation of B7-H4 expression and subsequent enzyme and cytokine production, ultimately contributing to abnormal pregnancy outcomes.

The Role of TNF-α and Anti-TNF-α Agents during Preconception, Pregnancy, and Breastfeeding

Katarzyna Romanowska-Prochnicka et al.

Summary: TNF-alpha plays a crucial role in influencing hormone synthesis, placental architecture, and embryonic development during pregnancy. Increased levels of TNF-alpha are associated with pregnancy loss and preeclampsia, and may also impact trophoblast biology and maternal immune cells. Additionally, the release of cytokines and chemokines in syncytiotrophoblasts may be affected by chronic inflammatory diseases in pregnancy.

Imbalance of uterine innate lymphoid cells is involved in the abnormal pregnancy induced by Toxoplasma gondii infection

Siqi Liu et al.

Summary: This study revealed that T. gondii infection could disrupt the balance of uterine ILC cells, leading to changes in transcription factor expression and cytokine production. Furthermore, the treatment with IL-12 and IL-18 was found to alter the composition of uILCs, potentially contributing to the adverse pregnancy outcomes induced by T. gondii infection.
