Progesterone Can Directly Inhibit the Life Activities of Toxoplasma gondii In Vitro through the Progesterone Receptor Membrane Component (PGRMC)

Yihan Wu et al.

Summary: Progesterone inhibits the invasion and proliferation of toxoplasma gondii, leading to abnormal cytoskeletal division and autophagy. The discovery of the progesterone membrane receptor protein (TgPGRMC) establishes a direct relationship between progesterone and T. gondii and provides a new direction for research on T. gondii infection during pregnancy.
