Specialist palliative care services response to ethnic minority groups with COVID-19: equal but inequitable-an observational study

Sabrina Bajwah et al.

Summary: Insights were developed into the response of UK palliative care services caring for people from ethnic minority groups during COVID-19 through a cross-sectional online survey. Services supporting ethnic minority groups were more likely to include hospital teams and less likely to include hospice or home care teams. The impact of policies introduced during the pandemic included restricted visiting, communication challenges, unmet religious needs, and a focus on equal and individualized care. Urgent systemic steps, including equality impact assessments, are needed post-COVID-19.

Summary: The study aimed to provide a valid instrument to assess people's readiness for end-of-life conversations.
