Recent progress of robotic head and neck surgery using a flexible single port robotic system

Young Min Park et al.

Summary: Robotic neck surgery using the DaVinci SP system was performed successfully in 63 patients with head and neck tumors, demonstrating feasibility, safety, and advanced technical advantages over the previous Si/Xi system. The mean operative time was 207 min and the average hospital stay was 6.9 days, with efficient docking of the surgical robot within 10 min on average.

Transoral robotic surgery and intensity-modulated radiotherapy in the treatment of the oropharyngeal carcinoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Armando De Virgilio et al.

Summary: The meta-analysis showed that TORS is an effective surgical approach in the management of OPSCC, providing favorable oncologic and functional outcomes. Further randomized controlled trials comparing TORS and IMRT with homogeneous cohorts in terms of tumor staging and HPV status are recommended.

Surgical, Oncological, and Functional Outcomes of Transoral Robotic Supraglottic Laryngectomy

Stephane Hans et al.

Summary: Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) is an effective and safe treatment for supraglottic squamous cell carcinoma, with low postoperative complication rates, high survival rates, and quick return to oral diet. It can be a promising therapeutic approach for early- and intermediate-stages cancers.

Anatomical-based classification for transoral base of tongue resection

Armando De Virgilio et al.

Summary: A classification of transoral base of tongue procedures was proposed to provide uniform terminology for defining postoperative results, comprising three types of resections based on anatomical and surgical principles. This classification could facilitate data comparison across different centers.
