Synthesis of [1,2,3]Triazolo-[1,5-a]quinoxalin-4(5H)-ones through Photoredox-Catalyzed [3+2] Cyclization Reactions with Hypervalent lodine(III) Reagents

Jinxia Wen et al.

Summary: An efficient synthesis of various [1,2,3]triazolo-[1,5-a]quinoxalin-4(5H)-ones via [3 + 2] cyclization reaction by photoredox catalysis between quinoxalinones and hypervalent iodine(III) reagents is reported. A wide range of quinoxalinones and hypervalent iodine(III) reagents were well tolerated. This cyclization reaction allows the access to structurally diverse [1,2,3]triazolo-[1,5-a]quinoxalin-4(SH)-ones in moderate to good yields.

Base Mediated Diazirination via Iodine(III) Reagents

Monish Arbaz Ansari et al.

Summary: Here, we described an efficient method for the construction of highly functionalized diazirines from carbohydrazide and diazo-substituted hypervalent iodine reagents. The method is user applicable and easy to practice with unambiguous transformation conditions. Notably, D-glucose, menthol, aspirin, proline, and lithocholic acid were efficiently diazirinated. Furthermore, the method is mild, robust, and highly selective, converting various aryl, alkyl, benzyl, and heterocyclic hydrazides into the corresponding diazirine derivatives.

Repurposing quinacrine for treatment-refractory cancer

Derek B. Oien et al.

Summary: Quinacrine, originally an antimalarial drug, has been rediscovered as an anticancer agent due to its multiple mechanisms including inhibition of cancer cell growth and DNA repair processes. Its potential in treating aggressive tumors such as high grade serous ovarian cancer has been highlighted in recent studies.

A porphyrin-based covalent organic framework with pH-dependent fluorescence

Xingchun Wu et al.

Summary: Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have been widely studied and applied in the fields of energy storage, gas separation, catalysis, and photoelectric devices. Designing and synthesizing COFs with fluorescent units has been a challenge, but a porphyrin-based COF (TPE-Por-4) with unique fluorescent properties and pH-responsive behavior has been successfully developed in this study.

Efficacy of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors in Alzheimer's disease

Gabriella Marucci et al.

Summary: Alzheimer's disease is characterized by cognitive decline and behavioral manifestations, with the most common treatment being cholinesterase inhibitors. Despite their limited efficacy and gastrointestinal side effects, ChE-Is remain a pharmacotherapeutic resource for AD treatment. Investigating combinations with other drug classes may offer renewed interest in the use of ChE-Is for adult-onset dementia disorders.

A simple turn-on fluorescence sensor for salicylaldehyde skeleton based on switch of PET-AIE effect

Shibing Chen et al.

Summary: This research developed a simple and highly selective turn-on fluorescence sensor for detecting salicylaldehyde skeleton, with a response range of 3.1 to 40 μmol/L and a good detection limit. The disruption of the PET process by intramolecular hydrogen bonding enabled the turn-on fluorescence response of CDB-Am. This sensor successfully conducted fluorescence qualitative testing for salicylaldehyde skeleton on TLC analysis and quantitative detection in Periploca sepium, indicating potential extensive applications in phytochemistry and traditional Chinese herbal medicine.

Catalyst-Free Visible-Light-Promoted Cyclization of Aldehydes: Access to 2,5-Disubstituted 1,3,4-Oxadiazole Derivatives

Jian Li et al.

Summary: An efficient synthesis of a variety of 2,5-disubstituted 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives through cyclization reaction by photoredox catalysis between aldehydes and hypervalent iodine(III) reagents is described. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions and affords various target compounds in excellent yields. The commercially available aldehydes without preactivation and a simple visible-light-promoted procedure without any catalysts make this strategy an alternative to the conventional methods.
