Enhanced Molecular Recognition through Substrate-Additive Complex Formation in N-Heterocyclic-Carbene-Catalyzed Kinetic Resolution of α-Hydroxythioamides

Yinli Wang et al.

Summary: We describe a new method of enhancing molecular recognition through substrate-additive complex formation and catalytic acylation using chiral catalyst. The study demonstrates that the additive forms a hydrogen-bonded complex with the substrate, resulting in improved reaction rate and selectivity. The synthetic applications of the resolved compounds highlight the effectiveness of this method.

Rhodium(III)-Catalyzed Asymmetric Reductive Cyclization of Cyclohexadienone-Containing 1,6-Dienes via an Anti-Michael/Michael Cascade Process

Hao Xu et al.

Summary: A rhodium(III)-catalyzed asymmetric reductive cyclization was reported for alpha,beta-unsaturated compounds tethered with cyclohexadienone, leading to cis-bicyclic frameworks with good yields and enantioselectivities. The role of ring strain in controlling regioselectivity and favoring 5,6-bicyclic products was also demonstrated by DFT calculations.

Diastereo- and enantioselective rhodium(iii)-catalyzed reductive cyclization of cyclohexadienone-containing 1,6-dienes

Yun-Xuan Tan et al.

Summary: This study reports a diastereo- and enantioselective rhodium(iii)-catalyzed reductive cyclization of cyclohexadienone-tethered terminal alkenes and (E)-1,2-disubstituted alkenes, resulting in cis-bicyclic products with three contiguous stereocenters in good yields and high selectivities. The kinetic resolution of the racemic precursor is also achieved efficiently, along with subgram-scale experiment, several transformations of the cyclization product, and one-pot preparation of bridged polycyclic frameworks.

Asymmetric desymmetrization of alkene-, alkyne- and allene-tethered cyclohexadienones using transition metal catalysis

Tao Shu et al.

Summary: By utilizing transition metals and chiral ligands in catalytic asymmetric domino reactions, desymmetrization of alkene-, alkyne- and allene-tethered cyclohexadienones can be achieved, allowing for rapid construction of complex molecular frameworks and control of multiple stereogenic centers.
